The Fringe Limb Tree Frog (Echnomiahyla rabborum) was described in 2008. The taxon is a canopy dwelling species from Central America. E. rabborum breeds in water filled tree holes. The edges of the arms and legs have skin fringes that extend outward from the body. These pieces of skin help break up the noticeable outline of the frog when at rests with its arms and legs tucked in close to its body. Presumably, predators of the frog have a harder time finding them. In addition, this species has extensive webbing between its fingers and toes and glides from elevated locations in the forest canopy to lower spots. This frog was photographed in 2008 in the Atlanta Botanical Garden's amphibian conservation laboratory.
