Description
Palaemonetes antrorum, the Balcones Cave Shrimp or Texas Cave Shrimp, is an endangered groundwater species only found in the Edward's Aquifer of Texas, USA. Typical of species adapted to subterranean habitats, they lack pigment and eyes. Groundwater extraction and contamination threaten this species. Little is known of its biology or ecology. This individual was photographed in 2009.
