Description
Light micrograph of the "head" of a water flea, Daphnia sp., showing the dark eye spot (right) and the branched "rowing legs" (seen at top and bottom). Daphnia are small fresh-water crustaceans often used in aquariums as live fish food. The rowing legs are called biramous appendages and produce a jerky, hopping movement through the water. Magnification unknown.
