Description
An adult luna moth recently emerged from its cocoon. Its wing lobes are starting to extend as they dry. After emerging, the luna moth (Actias luna) has no mouth and cannot eat; it lives for only about one week, during which time it mates and lays eggs. This one was photographed (number 11 in a series of 13) at Florida's Timucuan Preserve.
