Description
The Atlas Moth, Attacus atlas, is the largest moth in the world. The wing span of this species ranges from 25-30cm (10-12 inches). Atlas Months are saturniid moths and range through southeast Asia and the Indo-Australian Archipelago. In China, these moths are known as the "snake's head moth" owing to the upper ends of the pattern on their wings looking like a snake head in shape and pattern. This specimen was photographed in Thailand, 2011.
