Description
Three pollen of grass (Poaceae), two of them show the apertures (yellow), here the pollen tube grows out when the pollen lands on a stigma. Grass pollen are distributed by wind, so enormous numbers of pollen are released. Pollen grains are the carriers of the male genetic material. They can trigger allergies to sensitive people. Poaceae or Gramineae is a large and nearly ubiquitous family of monocotyledonous flowering plants known as grasses, commonly referred to collectively as grass. Poaceae includes the cereal grasses, bamboos and the grasses of natural grassland and cultivated lawns and pasture. All cereals such as wheat, rye, barley, oats, millet, corn and rice belong to this group of plants.Scanning electron microscope, magnification 1300x (at 12x12cm image size).
