Artist's Description
A sharpened #2 pencil touching lined paper. The modern day lead pencil was invented by Nicolas Jacques Conte(b. 8/4/1755). Conté had the idea of mixing powdered graphite with clay and pressing the material between two half-cylinders of wood. He received a patent for his invention in 1795.
