Small blood vessels with pericytes. Pericytes are smooth muscle-like cells that develop in connective tissue and stabilize the blood capillary wall. The first image shows the pericyte of a capillary with primary processes directed longitudinally and secondary processes running circumferentialy. The second image shows an arterial capillary with numerous associated pericytes and the third shows a terminal arteriole with pericyte and circular smooth muscle cells.
