Description
Star forming region. Colored infrared image of the star forming region K3-50. K3-50 is unusual in that many of its stars are very massive (10-60 times the mass of the Sun), and are only 10-100 thousand years old. High mass stars are normally found in complex associations such as this. K3-50 is about 28,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. This image was made as part of the Two-Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) project.
