Description
Zebra Longwing (Heliconius charithonia). This butterfly eats the poisonous sap of passionflowers in order to develop toxicity. It nests at night in large colonies. It should not be confused with the Zebra Swallowtail, whose stripes run vertically. Florida's State Insect since 1996. Jacksonville, Florida.
