Artist's Description
Central Pacific Railroad construction workers standing on railroad flatcars being pushed by locomotive across trestle at Promontory Point in Salt Lake Valley. The Central Pacific Railroad is the former name of the railroad network built between California and Utah, US, that built eastwards from the West Coast in the 1860s, to complete the western part of the "First Transcontinental Railroad" in North America. It is now part of the Union Pacific Railroad. Photographed by Andrew J. Russell, 1868.
