Colorized scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This is a typical unicellules budding yeast. The largest cell is the parent cell with two daughter cells still attached. These will later separate and bud themselves. Some cells bud many times leaving numerous bud scars over the surface. Magnification 11,600x.
