Description
Human breast cancer cells (nuclei, blue) expressing pMAPKAPK2 (green) and beta-catenin (red). An understanding of how cells, both cancerous and normal, communicate with their environment is important in cancer research. Extracellular signals are transduced through transmembrane receptors and intracellular signaling cascades to alter cell behavior. Molecular signaling by p38/MAPKAPK2 and beta-catenin are involved in the regulation of cell proliferation, gene expression, and cell motility. This image was taken to analyze the activity of these specific molecular pathways.
