Description
Jackie Robinson (1919 - 1972) was first African-American to play in MLB when he broke the color line and started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. He won the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award, was an All-Star for six consecutive seasons (1949-54), and won the NL Most Valuable Player Award in 1949, the first black player so honored. In 1962, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. No photographer credited, 1949 (cleaned).
