Description
Colored scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of an Assassin bug (Sinea diadema). Assassin bugs lie in ambush for their insect prey and injects its victim with a lethal toxin that dissolves tissue. Although many assassin bugs use their sucking mouthparts for sipping plant juice, some have evolved as predators. When food supplies are scarce, this insect will use a more active routine instead of its ambush approach. Magnification = 75x. Enhancement of 9M5538.
