Description
Band aid absorbent pad viewed under a scanning electron microscope. The featureless, gray layer is the non-absorbent film which prevents to pad from sticking to a wound. The convoluted, wire-like strands seen through the holes are the fibers that make the band aid pad absorbent. The long side of each triangular hole is approximately 400 microns in length, which is about the length of a grain of table salt. (350x magnification).
