Description
Cape Fear Shiner (Notropis mekistocholas) – according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, this species is endemic to the Cape Fear River basin in the east-central Piedmont region of North Carolina, occurring within a 30-mile wide area along the Cape Fear River and tributaries near the Fall Line. The IUCN lists it as endangered. Photographed at the Conservation Fisheries Inc. facilities, 22 June 2018.
