Set atop this white ceramic serving plate were three baby carrots, that were in the background, which were along-side a number of fresh celery stalks, which were all still moist after having been thoroughly washed. Carrots are an excellent source of Vitamin A, which is necessary for healthy eyesight, skin, growth, and also aids our bodies in resisting infection. This root vegetable has a higher natural sugar content than all other vegetables with the exception of beets. This is why they make a wonderful snack when eaten raw and make a tasty addition to a variety of cooked dishes. Celery is often sold in loose stalks and also pre-packaged celery hearts. Celery hearts are the inner ribs of the celery. Today celery is predominately grown domestically in California and Florida with many different varieties on the market, the most common being Pascal. A member of the carrot family, celery was first recorded as a plant in France in 1623 and was probably developed either there or in Italy.
