This woodcut has been attributed to two artists. "Life of the Children of the Moon" by Georg Pencz (1500-1550), in the Folge der Planeten and "The Moon and Its Traits" by Hans Sebald Beham (1500-1550). In ancient Roman religion and myth, Luna is the divine embodiment of the Moon. She is often presented as the female complement of the Sun conceived of as a god. In Roman art, Luna's attributes are the crescent moon and the two-yoke chariot. Luna's Greek counterpart was Selene. In Roman art and literature, myths of Selene are adapted under the name of Luna. The Moon is large enough for its gravity to affect the Earth, stabilizing its orbit and producing the regular ebb and flow of the tides. Fishing is the activity of trying to catch fish. Fish are normally caught in the wild. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping.
