Description
Iron is more reactive than copper. Hence, when a copper metal strip was immersed in a beaker containing a 0.2M iron (II) sulfate solution, no displacement reaction took place (left frame). On the contrary, when an iron metal strip was immersed in a beaker containing a 0.5M copper (II) sulfate solution, a single-displacement reaction occurred Fe + CuSO4 -> Cu + FeSO4 (right frame).
