Description
Copperhead Snake (Agkistrodon contortrix) aka Highland Moccasin. Tends to use a 'dry' bite as first defensive warning, biting more people than any other US species. Its venom is the mildest of the US vipers. Their bite is seldom fatal to humans, but can have serious consequences. Range Southern New England to northern Georgia, Pennsylvania to Illinois. Jacksonville Zoo, Duval County, Florida.
