Description
Detail of a Corinthian column at the Great Colonnade of Apamea, an ancient city in the Orontes River valley in northwestern Syria. The colonnade was built in the 2nd century CE, and stretched approximately 1.2 miles along the city's main street, or cardo maximus. It is among the longest and most famous in the Roman world.
