Cornflower Opening metal print by Perennou Nuridsany. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Artist's Description
Petals emerging in the wild cornflower, Centaurea cyanus. This flower head is in fact made up of many lilac-colored flowers, seen here protected by green bracts. The cornflower is of eastern Mediterranean origin and has lived closely associated with human agriculture since the neolithic era. It is now found worldwide among cereal crops. Despite this long human association, Centaurea cyanus is gradually disappearing through the use of agricultural herbicides. Outside of its natural habitat, the cornflower is fragile. Leonardo da Vinci once remarked upon the very pure color of its petals.
