Description
Non-contrast CT scan of the head of a 70-year-old diabetic woman found unresponsive at home on the floor. The study reveals a large area of intracerebral hemorrhage in the left temporoparietal region extending into the basal ganglia region. Maximally it measures 8.6 x 6.04 cm. There is associated edema in the adjacent brain parenchyma. Approximately 2 cm midline shift is noted to the right side with subfalcine herniation. There is intraventricular hemorrhage noted with hemorrhage into the lateral ventricles, the third and the fourth ventricles. A second area of hemorrhage is seen posterior to the region of the pons in the cerebellum, on the left side. There is also evidence of uncal herniation to the right. Subarachnoid hemorrhage is demonstrated.
