Description
Diogenes being offered whatever he wants by Alexander the Great asks Alexander to step aside so that he can see the sun. Diogenes of Sinope (412-323 BC) was a Greek philosopher and one of the founders of Cynic philosophy. He embarrassed Plato, disputed his interpretation of Socrates and sabotaged his lectures. Alexander III of Macedon (356-323 BC) was a Greek king. In 334 BC, he invaded Persian-ruled Asia Minor and began a series of campaigns that broke the power of Persia, overthrowing King Darius III and conquering the entirety of the Persian Empire. Plutarch's Lives for Boys and Girls, 1900 (cropped and cleaned).
