Description
Zinc coil was added to a test tube containing a 0.2M copper (II) sulfate solution. Since zinc is more reactive copper, a single-displacement reaction occurred. Copper metal and zinc (II) sulfate formed as a result Zn + CuSO4 -> Cu + ZnSO4. In this sequence Left frame was taken seconds after the zinc was added, right frame was taken after about 1 hour. Note hydrogen gas bubbles that were produced in a secondary reaction.
