Description
Guillaume-Benjamin-Armand Duchenne (also known as Duchenne de Boulogne) with one of his research subjects. Duchenne (1806-1875), a French neurologist, stimulated the muscles of live subjects with faradic current to demonstrate the mechanics of facial expression. He wrote "The Mechanism of Human Physiognomy" (1862).
