Description
The electric generator in its initial form was devised by Edison using the ideas of Michael Faraday. The electromagnetic current was generated by rotating a copper conductor between two opposing poles of magnets. Edison built the first practical direct current generator, which he used to illuminate his laboratory and, later, the first New York electric street lamps.
