Description
Ephesus was an ancient Greek city on the west coast of Anatolia, in present-day Izmir Province, Turkey. In the 1st Century BC, it was the second largest city of the Roman Empire. Commercial importance declined as the Cayster River silted in its harbor. Today's archaeological site lies 3 km southwest of Selcuk. The archeological site is a favorite tourist attraction, with easy access from Kusadasi.
