Description
At the beginning of July, Kansas and Missouri were hit hard by days of heavy rain and resulting flooding. The Neosho and Verdigris Rivers in Kansas rose to record levels, flooding the towns of Independence and Coffeyville. In these 2 ASTER images acquired on May 19, 2007 (left) and July 6, 2007(right), the Neosho River is in the upper right corner, and the Verdigris River flows north-south across the left part of the scenes. The images cover an area of 55.5 x 62.4 km, and are centered near 37.2 degrees north latitude and 95.5 degrees west longitude.
