Description
Glass fibers, color-enhanced scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Glass fibers (seen here in comparison with two hairs, brown) are often used as a reinforcing agent. They are woven into sheets and then impregnated with a plastic resin to produce fiberglass. Other uses include as separators in batteries, diaphragms in fuel cells, fiber optic cables and super lightweight insulation. Magnification x225 when printed 10 centimeters wide.
