Description
Grinnell Glacier, Glacier National Park, Montana, July 30, 2004. Grinnell Glacier is a small fragment of the mass it was 50 years ago, and is now nestled against the continental divide. It melts and loses ice fragments into Upper Grinnell Lake, often colored a turquoise because of "glacial milk," suspended limestone fragments scoured from the rock bed the glacier moves over.
