This hominin is an extinct species that forms a relatively recent part of the human evolutionary tree. Fossils of this species date from between 600,000 and 400,000 years ago. It may have been an ancestor of both Neanderthals and modern humans. Reconstruction by Elisabeth Daynes of the Daynes Studio, Paris, France. MANDATORY CREDIT.
