Description
Illustration showing drugs and macrophages attack bacteria in sexually-transmitted disease. The macrophage extends a long pseudopodia towards the bacteria prior to engulfing them. Once engulfed in process known as phagocytosis, the bacteria will be destroyed. Macrophages are specialized white blood cells that form in the bone marrow and can patrol a large area. They are an important component in our immune system and attack many types of foreign organisms.
