Description
Sundial at the Jantar Mantar observatory, Jaipur, India. This observatory was constructed between 1727 and 1734 by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It consists of masonry astronomical instruments (yantras) constructed to allow the observation of celestial objects and for the measurement of local time. The observatory is one of five constructed in west central India by Jai Singh II. It is one of the best preserved, having been restored in 1901.
