Description
Metal carbonate precipitates. Sodium carbonate is added to test tubes containing, left to right, magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron (II) and copper salts. All solutions are 0.5 M concentration. Respective metal carbonate precipitates are formed as a result.MgCl2 + Na2CO3 -> MgCO3 + NaCl, .CaCl2 + Na2CO3 -> CaCO3 + NaCl,.ZnSO4 + Na2CO3 -> ZnCO3 + Na2SO4,.FeSO4 + Na2CO3 -> FeCO3 + Na2SO4,.CuSO4 + Na2CO3 -> CuCO3 + Na2SO4. These are examples of a double displacement reaction.
