Description
Midwives comfort a woman sitting in a birthing chair while a third midwife delivers the baby; in the background two men are consulting astrological charts and the stars. Midwifery in the Middle Ages was important to women's lives and health prior to the professionalization of medicine. Most midwives came from the lower classes and were illiterate. Midwives learned their craft from other women and from having their own children. The poorest women were typically helped by the women in their family and their neighbors more than the midwives from the towns. In towns and cities the midwives were more prevalent which placed a lot of emphasis on reputation. Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events. Astrologically, each day supplies a collection of influences that contribute to creating a personality which is uniquely yours and yours alone. Astrologers believe the numbers of your birthdate have an intimate link with the transits of the planets on the day that you were born. This is called Astro-numerology.
