Light micrograph (LM) of a cutaneous-derived tissue sample, showing some of the histopathologic cytoarchitectural characteristics seen in a mycobacterial skin infection. Mycobacterial skin infections include those caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. leprae, i.e., leprosy, and M. abscessus. Note the presence of the unidentified Gram-positive Mycobacterium sp. pathogen in the form of purple, rod-shaped bacilli. Magnification unknown.
