Description
Neuschwanstein (New Swan Rock Castle) is a neo-romantic style castle, built by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria in 1869. It was designed by Christian Jank, a theatrical designer, not an architect. The King created the castle as a retreat, and as an homage to Richard Wagner, the great composer. The castle is connected to the character Lohengrin, the Swan Knight, from the opera 'Lohengrin.'
