Artist's Description

The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, New York, is a very large Victorian glass hot house. It dates from 1900 and is modeled on the Palm House in Kew, England. This view shows the Palm Court with its 90-foot-high dome, designed by Lord and Burnham. It is part of the New York Botanical Gardens. The philanthrophist, Enid A. Haupt, publisher of Seventeen magazine, donated funds for the building's restoration. Edward L. Barnes, the architect, donated architectural services.
