Entitled; "Cypripedium elliottianum" taken from "Orchid album comprising colored figures and descriptions of new, rare and beautiful orchidaceous plants" by B. S. Williams, 1891 edition. Benjamin Samuel Williams (March 2, 1822 - June 24, 1890) was an English orchidologist and nurseryman in London, known mainly for his horticultural notes on orchids in publications such as The Orchid Grower's Manual (London 1871), Select Orchidaceous Plants (London 1862 onwards) and The Orchid Album (London 1882-97). Cypripedium elliottianum (Paphiopedilum rothschildianum) commonly known as the Gold of Kinabalu orchid, is a large sized clear-leafed species of orchid. It blooms with a tall inflorescence with up to six, large flowers. It is unique in the Corypetalum group by holding its petals almost horizontally, giving the flower a very distinctive appearance.
