Light micrograph showing red cell ovalocytosis in human peripheral blood. Ovalocytosis is an inherited condition in which a person's red blood cells, which are supposed to be round, instead have a slightly oval or elliptical shape (also known as hereditary elliptocytosis). A white blood cell is upper, slightly right. Occasional teardrop cells are also present. Magnification 660X at 10 cm image size. Oil immersion technique.
