Description
A direct, person-to-person blood transfusion, conducted in Geneva, Switzerland, in early 1882. The recipient was a woman who became weak after she gave birth to premature twins. She reportedly recovered soon after this transfusion. This was 18 years before Austrian biologist Karl Landsteiner identified the main blood groups in 1900.
