Artist's Description

Entitled "An extinct Pterodactyl as it appeared in flight, the extinct Teleosaurus (on left) and two examples of the Duck-Billed Platypus, the latter still existing in Australia and Tasmania." Pterodactyls are any of a number of genera of flying reptiles of the extinct order Pterosauria, from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, having a highly reduced tail and teeth, birdlike beak and and a wingspan of 3.3 ft or less. Pterosaurs (winged lizard) were flying reptiles of the order Pterosauria. Pterosaurs are the earliest vertebrates known to have evolved powered flight. Teleosaurus was an extinct genus of teleosaurid crocodyliform that lived during the Middle Jurassic. It was approximately 10 feet in length. eleosaurus had highly elongate jaws, similar to those of a modern gharial. It had a long, slender, body, with a sinuous tail that would have helped propel it through the water. The platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) also known as the duck-billed platypus is a semiaquatic egg-laying...
