Description
Brassica juncea, mustard greens seeds. The seeds, the leaves, and the stem of B. juncea are edible. The plants are eaten and used in culinary applications as greens worldwide. In Russia the seeds are used for the production of high-quality edible mustard oil. The plant accumulates cadmium, selenium, chromium, iron, zinc and many other elements from the soil. This ability is used in phytoremediation to remove heavy metals, such as lead, from the soil in hazardous waste sites because it has a high tolerance for these metals and stores them in its cells. Image width 7.82 mm. Magnification 12.8 x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
