View from space of Southern Paramushir Island, part of the Kuril Island chain, a volcanic island arc that extends from Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula to northern Japan. Four major volcanic centers create this part of the island Fuss Peak (image center left), the Karpinsky Group (image bottom), the Lomonosov Group (image center), and the Chikurachki cone (image top center).
