Description
A male figure with wings on his head, wrists, and ankles holding a bowl which is emitting gaseous fumes. The alchemical element Sulfur, (Brimstone) is spiritually analogous to the human soul. Sulfur has the qualities of masculine, hot and dry. Combined with Mercury (feminine, cool and moist), the pair were considered the parents of all metals. Sulfur is a Fire stone associated with the Sun and with Saturn. Sulfur gives its name to one of the three alchemical principles (Salt, Sulfur, Mercury). Sulfur burns with a blue flame and the famous sulfur smell (rotten eggs).
