Description
Darters are a group of benthic, perciform fishes that live along the bottoms of river and stream in North America. Many have small ranges and are imperiled or endangered. This is the Tuxedo Darter (Etheostoma lemniscatum). Photographed at the Conservation Fisheries Inc. facilities, 22 June 2018. The species is listed as 'vulnerable' by the IUCN. The species is found in the Big South Fork Cumberland River, with most individuals observed from the mouth of Station Camp Creek, Scott County, Tennessee, to Bear Creek, McCreary County, Kentucky.
