Giant Walking Stick (Acrophylla sp.), Herowana Village, Papua New Guinea. This large female walking stick has wings which are useful mostly for display if threatened by a predator. Males of the species are more slender and capable of flight. They feed at night and remain motionless in trees and shrubs during the day. Photographed on a tree fern for relative size.
