Description
The Granulated Glass Frog (Cochranella granulosa) is an inhabitant of Central American forests. They breed on plant leaves along the edges of streams. Eggs are deposited on leaves above the water. When the tadpoles begin to hatch out, they drop into the water below. Frogs of this family typically have translucent ventral surfaces through which the beating heart and all viscera can easily be observed. This tadpole was photographed in 2008 in the Atlanta Botanical Garden's amphibian conservation laboratory.
